Mudcontrol or Jelka or the newer W-f racing mats?

I need to order SOMETHING. Need a path to the foals' stables for the winter (thanks big mare for trashing the bottom of that paddock in the storm so it's now a mud pit!), and my shetland + friend need some help in their paddock (no grass).

So - need a path over ankle deep mud and then on slippy shallow mud.
AND
need the best option for the paddock. Paddock has shallow-ish mud area that is flat and could be matted OR the area that had straw over the summer and is now fetlock deep in small pony hoof sized holes (gentle slope).

Prefer the idea of the w-f racing ones over mud control as have attempted to make them less slippery, but mud control has more reviews. Jelka less slippery but would they not pull apart?

No personal experience with any but have you looked at the Facebook page “horse life hax”? There’s a lady that’s currently reviewing the racing mats on there and I think they’ve got a discount code for them. I think she’s also got experience of the other two

I think all three have good reputations, but I am only personally familiar with the mud control mats. Mine were placed directly on top of knee deep slush with no ground prep, mid winter ... That was 3 years ago and they have been a god send. I wish I'd done them in the dry season, properly, but now they have become one with the ground and I haven't the energy or motivation to lift them for a proper reset. Keep telling myself I will, but realistically, I won't!! Despite my terrible DIY skills and lacklustre approach to doing things properly, they haven't sunk away. The grass has grown through them over the seasons and I can't even see them half the time. Horses stand on them in the dry ... I want more!

There's been a long conversation yesterday on this exact question on the FB group "land management for horses with Dr Lisa Schofield". This one would probably be worth joining too, unless of course you are the person who started the conversation!

I have Jelka mats and super happy with them.

I'd seen too many people comment that Mud Control can be slippy, so opted for Jelka but it took me months to decide between the two options.

Love my mud control mats, only been down a few weeks but mine haven't slipped on them even though they go round a corner. They look smart, lock together and are easy to move. I worried jelka would become slippery if enough mud was walked onto them and thought they might move.

I did use sand and as a precaution have put some old shavings on the corner...

I've seen people use a single slab track which seems to work, mine is 3 wide
