Muddy gateways

We have clay soil in my area and my land is sloping.
After heavy rain the gateway into the field gets very muddy and also slippy as its sloping.

Is there anything I can put down to create a safer entrance to the field??

I have been putting down used shavings, and so far it is completly mud free

I asked this last week, the consensus was for wood chippings or used shavings from your stable.

A local tree surgean comes to our yard & dumps his shreaded up twigs & branches on our track & in gateways & that does the trick. It does us both a favor & costs us nothing.

We've just had our yard and main gateways totally dug out with hardcore put down and proper drains. Hopefully it'll do the trick!
