It looks like we might be going to more multi day shows this winter. I love the venue but it’s a fair drive and adding a hotel room in with the box is not the most money efficient way to show. Does anyone out there do this without living quarters (my current mode of transport is a 2 Horse trailer),

I have done this in summer where the venue has showers/toilets, but I would not in winter.

I had a camping gas stove in the back of a Landy, waterproof sheet and bed in the trailer.

For warm weather shows a tent is my plan, I don’t need much as my friends have living quarters but I just need a bed.

We've a mix of all three over the years - blacking out the back of a defender 110 LWB (You can get a double bed in there!), a tent and a camp bed in the trailer. All are perfectly do-able if a bit basic. But I would not want to do any in a cold or wet winter. I don;t know where you are - but you'd never get warm if it is really cold or dry if it is at all wet.

I've done it in all weathers; combination of pitching up a decent large tent & camping in the horse area of the lorry. It's always been worth it and fun!

We camp :) In tents in fields in the Lorry in equestrian centres. Some power packs chairs and a camping stove is all you need :p We don’t always have showers even :p

I'm spending the duration of equifest sleeping in my horsebox.
I have heard though that in colder months it's quite effective if you sleep in a pop up tent inside the horsebox/trailer as this makes things a little warmer

A trailer is fine in the summer. Horse has a nice stable, or pen if Trecing. You can kit it out like a tent, and I have heard that serious Trecers erect a tent inside the trailer in the spring/autumn if starting to get cold.

It depends a bit if you have all the camping equipment on hand or could borrow because if you had to go out and buy everything - bed, small cooker, sleeping bag, etc. then that is going to mount up and if only once would probably be same money to stay somewhere. Depends if you are going to do this regularly. My old trailer wasn't weather proof but I never had a really wet overnight stay. You have to be organised and it is tiring if you are riding, looking after horse and looking after yourself.

However, I did one clinic and people had paid to stay in a hotel and they literally only slept there because the rest of the time we were riding/lectures and I felt they didn't get their money's worth for a nice hotel and I could just take a few steps across the trailer park to the stables.

I would just put the back seats down in the car/truck and put something soft over it (I usually use a half thickness mattress type thing) and bam.. double bed! Heat from the car if you need it, shut sheets in the windows for privacy. This has always been my go to rather than staying on a blow up (or not so much by morning) bed in a tent.

I could possibly put myself through camping in a tent in very nice weather but not in the rain and / or wind and / or cold

B&B for me or similar, still cheaper than running a lorry
