My horse a 21 year old mare, has developed skin lumps which start at her withers and go in a straight line through a curve to her stifle, there is one deviation half way down when they go off to the right, blood tests show nothing, they are now beginning to pop up on the offside again beginning at the withers and making their way down her body, also along the spine, any ideas, my vet is puzzled.

Hi

My gelding has these they are a flaming pain! they started off last year on his shoulder shortly after he was brought in at night over the winter, Livery Yard Manager suggested it might be some thing to do with the folicles they turn into little scabs and are very itchy for him, vet said collagen lumps, However I have now come to the conclusion they are a food allergy, they traveled from his shoulder across his back and down his tummy they had almost gone until the other day when I rather foolishly fed him some treats in a new treat ball I bought him and WAM! they are back all over his back I could scream. Hes sensitive any way any change in diet upsets his stomach to the extent hes on hay and chaff (hi Fi Lite) and nothing else bar apples and carrots, other wise he can poop through the eye of a needle. Another vet described them exactly and told me not to fiddle with them leave them alone not to wash them with any thing special and they might go away, I wish they would.
