I'm in Manchester (more specifically Boothstown)

Went down to the farm this morning to find a police helicopter hovering all over the fields. Found out after i'd walked to the field on my own that the police are searching the area for that Michael Cope who murdered a woman last week.

They'd searched the farm house at 5am this morning and all of the outbuildings. The pub 2 minutes up the road had its car park filled with TAU vans, SWAT vans, police dog vans and loads of regular police vehicles. They had a couple of dog teams searching up and down the canal aswell.

So scary to think that he could be so close! I hope to god that they find him, he needs to be caught!

Bloody Nora! Something similar happened a few years back. I went into the field to find lots of police ramblers, me being nosy asked what was looking for....the hacked up remains of prostitutes murdered by the crossbow cannibal! It weirded me out...turned out the actual murderer lived ten minutes away...anyway, I hope all is well with ya....scary old world eh? They later found the girls in a local river stashed in a suitcase :(

Crikey, that is scary  Yes, keep safe!
Reminds me of years back when 'The Fox' was terrorising my area. We all lived in fear for quite a while!

They should of had someone to inform you and direct you to somewhere to wait till they were done its dangerous of them to let you wander into the middle of a police search.
This happened at our stables as a kid I arrived up the lane on my bike to be stopped my 2 police officers there were 2 vans full of police 2 helicopters and some cops on dirt bikes (due to remote off road nature of the area) I was told they were looking for some joy riders in the fields beyond my stables but even at 14 I never believed that story all that police presence over a couple of joy riders!

Scarey isn't it? Years ago there was a hunt on for a dangerous escaped prisoner in our area, the helicopters were about and people were warned that he might try to hide in outbuildings. Well, we have lots of outbuildings, and I also had to go out and feed my horse and othere animals. I was very glad when we heard he had been re-caputured.

Crikey! scarey or what! Used to live not far from Broadmoor as a kid. The siren used to be tested every Monday morning at 10.00, if it ever went off at any other time, we knew there was an escape, and we kids had to be picked up from school. It did happen once or twice as I remember!! Keep safe!!

Yes, I remember him. There was a rumour that he was in our area at one time, and I remember seeing police with dogs searching the local woods when I was with my friends, and one of the policemen told us to go home.
A lot of women wouldn't walk their dogs on their own.
Kx

With a bit of luck they'll find him floating in the Ship Canal or similar and save us all the cost of the trial and keeping in board and lodgings for the next 10 years.

Siren still goes off at 10am every monday morning...not had an escape in at least seven years though..thankfully

How scary for you - stay safe! Hope they get hold of him soon.

Have heard the Broadmoor siren too I live a fair way from there, but once I was out and about having just passed my driving test so having a good mooch about (oh the freedom) and heard it, but didn't think too much of it until I got home and told my parents! They went promptly told me what it was that I'd heard and went nuts that I'd been driving around the area by myself with a loony on the loose (confirmed by TV news that night). Eeek!

(Should add that this was quite a few years ago!)

This would be the ideal outcome! I despise the thought of having to pay for such scum to live and eat for the next god knows how many years.

Will be going back down later to see if anything else has happened. not heard anything yet!

Just googled the Fox- gulp!
I was about 15 at the time and lived in one of the villages close to his targets.
My mum had us all sleeping in her room with a wardrobe pushed against the door. We also had an old transistor radio that somehow picked up the police channel so would sit there for hours listening for any news. People I knew got taken in for questioning as they really had no idea who it was.
To say mass hysteria and panic set in was an understatement!
