Hello,

Has anyone used "Muscle Up" (by Equine America) or other similar supplements that claim to improve top line quickly? I have a TB gelding who needs to build up his strength, particularly behind the saddle. He is lunged in a Pessoa twice a week and we also do lateral exercises when working in the school. I was wondering whether a supplement like this could help or whether it would be a waste of money?

Oh and a Merry Christmas to all!

I've never used it but I know someone who did, they were on the same yard as me so I saw the results.

The horse (a scrawny ex-racer that was getting loads of good food & correct exercise to very little effect) did put on a lot more topline & muscle quite qiuckly. I can't remeber exactly how long it took but he ended up looking like a proper little powerhouse! The downside was that he became a real handful - opinionated, bounced everywhere, very hyper. The other problem was getting the damn stuff out of the bottle, I think the YO developed arm muscles that were nearly as impressive as the horse's

When I sold my little SJ the lady swapped him onto this from blue chip. He was really under muscled, but he was difficult to interest in food. He looked healthy and put on a bit of muscle. He didn't get too fizzy on it adn he was quite hot in general.

Thanks for your replies. Sounds like it might be worth a try for a month and see what happens. If he's going to react to it in terms of general thuggery, I know he'll do it quickly! I'll check out how expensive and easy it is to get hold of and I'll update the post with any useful results!

I use this product for dogs at the vets i work at and have good results. The dog product is almost the same as the horse one so i think it should help.
