Hi my pony is fed speedibeet, thunderbrook chaff and pink powder as vit and min. He’s very feed sensitive and this diet was recommended by vet. He had ulcers about 5 years ago and gets gut sensitive during seasonal changes. Can’t have alfalfa, molasses, soya and his feed needs to be low to none in sugar and starch so feed like balancers are out of the question(been there done that and it’s just not working) he had lost lots of weight but we struggling to put muscles on him, Is there anything I could feed him to help him muscle up a little more? He’s ridden 4-5 per week mixture of poles, schooling, hacking, hill work and jumping and although his topline improved his belly is still saggy. Spoken to vet and he suggested few supplements I completely forgot names of them.
Many thanks

Protein! Anything high in protein would help but no substitute for the exercise component.

Allen and Page muscle and focus is really good, I’ve just put my ex racer TB onto it, he’s recently had ulcers and successfully treated. No soy, molasses or alfalfa, low ish in starch and sugar and has lots of ulcer friendly ingredients. I mix mine with a bit of Thunderbrook chaff too, he loves it.

Another horse on the yard is on it and his muscle has really improved since he’s been on it, but obviously in combination with work.

I use the same Allen & Page product but if you're worried about bagged feed then Forage Plus do a really good Topline supplement which is a protein powder

Equitop Myoplast is very good. Can highly recommend.

By the time you start the second tub you will notice a difference.

I used to buy mine online from 365vet

Horses need sufficient protein in their diet and a decent exercise programme to enhance it.
