Not too sure what else to title this thread!
Basically my mare has come back into work properly in the last month roughly. She does about 40mins hacking 4 times a week with mostly hill work, and its starting to look really well! Lovely and shiny, happy in herself!
Now my issue is that she has various leg problems meaning on vets advice she always needs to be on the slightly leaner side so that there isn't too much pressure on her front legs. She is roughly at the weight that I want now, a little more wouldn't hurt but I just wondered if there is anything I could feed to help with building top line/muscle along with the work to help her along?
She can be quite a good doer, but we now have the feed which works well keeping her at a level weight with no increase/decline along with being out 24/7. She is on small scoop of speedi beet with Hifi light chaff and a flight of linseed oil with her supplements once a day.
She isn't allowed to be lunged due to her leg problems so this isn't an option.

I hope there is enough info in there and I have explained myself well enough!

Any advice would be great :)

I know, sorry I probably didn't explain myself properly. We are doing as much of the correct work as we can for the correct muscle building, I just wondered if there is anything I should add to her feed to help her with the building of muscle?

I will try and post a photo, I guess when you look at them all the time your mind goes into overdrive lol and her weight has always been an ongoing battle, mainly because she gets fat very easily which doesn't help her legs at all!

You might ask your vet about equitrop myoplast which is a supplement for muscle building it might be apporiate for a horse where you wish to build muscle bulk while being very careful with the calories going in.

Cavalor muscle build is amazing stuff. My tb is looking the best I have ever seen him on this- very muscular for a horse who very difficult to put a top line on. Used the hepato liquid for a week to detox then he gets 3 scoops of this in his feed. Very expensive but worth it.

Elliefiz, I just googled cavalor muscle build and it looks amazing although I really don't know if I could justify spending that along with the £40 per month already spent on supplements for her legs!

I don't think you would need to feed myoplast permanently it can be used for a period say after box rest to help to support muscle development as the horse comes back to work I have never used it but my vets a big fan .

I will definitely ask me vet when they come out for jabs soon!
How does everybody think she is looking? My vet is sure that she has definitely foaled previous to me owning her and I have been working on building her stomach muscles too to tighten her up a bit :) also building her a nice bum has proven very difficult!
