Hi everyone,
I hope you are all well and none of you or your neddies have been blown/washed away.
I was thinking earlier about the state of the horse market (as in buying and selling, producing youngsters for sale, youngstock etc) and wondered where everyone thought it was now?
I work in property (commercial, investment and resi land) and it seemed to be building slowly towards the end of last year, particularly residential land, and its seemed really busy since the New Year. The residential land part is interesting as it is a really strong indicator that the general public are wanting to buy new homes again/can get mortgages etc.
Just wondered whether anybody thought this was being reflected in the horse market? Are horses selling? And quicker/easier than a few years ago? What about prices? Or has there not really been a change yet? Do people think it will actually go back to how it was pre crash or has the horse world changed irreversibly since then? It seems to be a regular conversation I hear about how a horse 'back in the day' would have been up for £5-6k+ and these days seem to be on market for £2-3k. And how often you read 'price not a reflection of quality'. (Anybody spotted that fantasy horse shopping is one of my office hobbies?!).
A large gin and tonic to anyone who has made this far through my rambling musings!!
