After a long period of not doing very much my girl is feeling brilliant and I want to build out my grooming kit with some lovely “luxe” grooming products.

But it has mixed reviews so I’d rather get individual products from other brands. What do you swear by? She’s a grey so I have blue shampoo and chalk! But I’m thinking more the honest horse rinse bombs, hot oil treatments, mane and tail conditioners and regrowth, a nice pair of mane shears etc! Anything that smells lovely or makes her coat lovely and soft. Not too worried if they’re overpriced!

Funny how I love to pamper her but settle for the basics for myself haha!
 
I use the neighked horse beautify oil, for manes and tails plus hot clothing. Manes and tails have never been stronger, thicker etc and I've noticed a real difference from the sprays I used to use (leovet, naf etc) with how healthy and supple they feel. It's more than I'd usually consider paying but I first tried it with a discount (maybe last black friday) and I'm so pleased with the results that I've replaced it when it's run out. I'm sparing with it so it lasts a long while for me. One of mine is very sensitive skinned so I have to be careful what I use, which makes it especially helpful that I can use one product for both his hot clothing and mane and tail. It's the only product that got a rug rub to recover and regrow last winter too. I don't buy any other 'fancy' grooming products so can't be any further help but I hope you really enjoy pampering your girl!
 
£92?! Blimey. I'm not knocking it if you want to go all out but mine looks full of shine on a magic brush, a super groomer and a bit of mane & tail conditioner 99% of the time. Oh, and leg oil in winter to repel mud.

I use Eqwax mane & tail, mud repellent oil & their no rinse washes after exercise or if I need to hot cloth.

Oh you may have influenced me! I just love giving her a good pamper on her days off, it must be my inner child with a real life my little pony 😂

Her mane, tail and coat are in good condition from within so to speak with her diet but they could just do with a bit of TLC or “final polish” compared to her current state of semi-feral beast 😂
 
I've used the beautify oil and it is very nice. But I use the L'oreal miracle oil now which is usually cheaper (sometimes on 3 for 2 at Boots!) and just as nice.

I do think the oils are much nicer on the tails than make and tail spray, and seem to make them even easier to brush through too.

Oh brilliant - I’ve been looking for a mud repellent oil! Also need to look into what a super groomer is, I’m behind the times!

Not super helpful, but I mostly just use human shampoo/conditioner. They smell nice and tend to be much cheaper. Bigger range of scents also. Can get human purple/blue shampoos too. I've found most horse detanglers to be similar to each other, so would just be whichever one had a smell you preferred (havent used the more expensive ones to be fair). I use Johnsons baby oil when I need an oil but I dont use it often. Coat softness I tend to turn to good diet/brushing rather than products but then again I have a grey so maybe hot clothing would be more relevant for darker colours. The thing I spend money on would be hoof oil - I use Kevin Bacons. Having a range of grooming tools might be nice if you like pampering, I like the harder plastic massage brushes for getting deeper into the coat/skin (horse likes it too!).
 
I have two greys (remind me WHY I did that to myself 🤣) and I swear by the below stuff to help keep them clean, shiny and smelling lush! :

Carr, Day and Martin Dreamcoat - This can be used all over the body without the risk of tack slipping, and can also be used as a mane and tail detangler. It smells absolutely gorgeous and a little goes a long way. You can also get 2.5l refills for it too which is handy as it saves you throwing out bottle after bottle. I normally use a soft brush to buff it into the coat after a thorough groom, but when using it for manes and tails, I apply directly to them, leave it sit for a few minutes and then start from the bottom up.

HY Equestrian Goats Hair Brush - I swear this is the softest brush I've ever used! It buffs the coat beautifully, keeps its shape after being cleaned, comes in a ton of colours so you can have colour co-ordinated sets for multiple horses and is really affordable compared to some other options.

HAAS Schimmel - This is hands down the best for removing stains. You do have to put a bit of effort into getting the stains out (HAAS say to brush against the coat in circular motions over the stain to help lift it before brushing the coat the right way) and I can honestly say that it does work. Obviously the fresher the stain the easier to get out, but for really stubborn ones I arm myself with this brush and get to work aha!

Cowboy Magic Greenspot Remover - This is the best spray product that I've used for removing stains. It does require the use of a damp towel to wet the stain before you can lift it, so not ideal if you don't have access to water or have a limited supply, but it leaves the coat lovely and shiny and whitens the area too. Like the other products I swear by you can get refills but the downside is that the refills are sometimes more expensive than simply replacing the bottle that you've used.

Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo/Conditioner - Hands down the best smelling shampoo and conditioner that I've used for my lads. It really whitens them up and a small amount goes a long way (my current bottles of each have lasted over a year so far!). I've also used it on myself and had many a compliment 😉

Eqyys Avocado Mist - Now this stuff is absolute heaven in a bottle! It's not the cheapest option but it has a TON of beneficial ingredients and no silicone/silica which helps keep the hair from getting damaged. As the name suggests it smells like avocados and the smell lasts. It isn't overpowering but you can tell you've used it. In fact I tend to switch between Dreamcoat and this dependant on what I can get at the time that I need it. Again you can also get refills for this to save wasting bottles.


The above products that I've mentioned are all staples in my grooming kit - whether I want to give a real spa and pamper session, or a daily groom - they're that good! I do like trying other products from time to time but always end up coming back to these :)
 
Grey horse - 5l of Wahl purple shampoo. I diffuse it down into a smaller bottle. Go to supermarket and get washing soda crystals for tail and then smart grooming do excellent whitening chalk. They also do something called blue tint. I only have white socks so don't quite need the blue tint stuff.

Tails I am unfussy on detangler but use care day and martin mostly and buy when 20% off.

I buy NAF lavender no rinse wash as brilliant for hot clothing, after clipping and removing sweat when ridden. It's cheapest and often 20% off.

For turnout I use hair wax sticks from Amazon for £3 for plaiting and then buy argan hair gel for quarter marks. I use plaiting spray but not that fussy just buy cheapest.

I do like dream coat but don't use huge amounts of it. But useful for a polish off.

I really like hoof doctor for feet. Tends to be done every other day. But good enough as a show hoof oil.

If you turnout in winter then I do like pig oil. Sponge it on or spray it on but make sure you patch test and it really does keep mud and dirt away a lot more than without.
 
I used to use an equyss product for hair regrowth that protected it as well and seemed to work well. Lavender no rinse for spot cleans and hot washing. Quic silver was expensive but the best I found for shampooing.
 
I use the neighkid beautify oil and it smells lovely!

It works brilliantly on one of my girls, whereas for the other, it just makes a not-very-tangled tail into a tangled mess, so I use NAF Silky Tails on her (which doesn't work on the first one). No idea why - they're both grey Section As!
 
Cheapest stuff where possible.

Bog standard hoof oil.
Bog standard mane and tail conditioner (current one is strathern from eBay)
Home bargains red medicated shampoo
Midas hydra horse shampoo - absolutely amazing stuff, really shifts filth and grease.
Smart grooming hot cloth oil.
 
I honestly don’t waste too much money on horse products. The only ones I do use regularly are the CDM tail spray and lavender wash.

Otherwise the Aldi version of Treseme for shampoo. Baby oil and dettol appears to do most other functions!

I second the Schimmel! It’s magic! She can go from caked in mud to actually semi-presentable without any water! I’m going to buy a second one because it also works wonders for a real deep scrub when bathing her too!
 
i’m a sucker for wasting money on lotions and potions🤣

absorbine finishing mist is probably my favourite, it’s the one i keep in my shoe basket, not expensive either!

supreme products candy floss mane & tail smells lush and leaves them shiny - the woman who runs the rehab yard where diva is having her shockwave says she can smell it as soon as i open the horsebox, before pony is even off!

their cherry shine shampoo smells absolutely incredible too!

It’s so fun! Life’s too short I don’t mind spending my fun money on silly sprays that smell nice and make their hair soft 😂
 
My horse has 4 white legs and I use the human provoke blue hair shampoo - about £3.5 in boots and it brings his legs up brilliantly. Absorbine show sheen is a must.

The make called mane and tail (which people use as well) has amazing shampoo, conditioner and detangler spray is lovely
