How do you get rid of yours (horse that is)
my boy is very protective over it unfortunately! I have managed to get it off with scissors before which took nearly two hours.... this time he actually seems more protective :(

Any tips from fellow hairy horse owners?

My boy's is rubbed off with grazing. We have a new & previously stabled pony at the yard and his was luxurious when he arrived, but is now looking a little tattered after being out in the fields for just two weeks.

Any reason it needs to come off?

im looking to take it off as its just horrible, its the size of a hand. When he is grazing on wet grass it is about 12 cms long and turns into worm like things hanging off his face.

Why is a mustache of any use to a horse? I fail to understand .... apart from giving his owner a face full of muddy wet mustache lol

I clip it off but it very rarely grows on my horse as she usually wears it off but when it does one side grows longer than the other! Can't imagine what important purpose it serves :D

In native breeds at least moustache is there to protect the nose when the pony is grazing/browsing on gorse and other rough plants

I HATE H's moustache with a passion!

At most I can trim the ends if it starts to resemble the Poirot look so unfortunately have to accept his choice of how he would like his facial hair as the agro of removing it isn't worth it.

I'd never remove his whiskers but the moustache would be in the bin if I could! Fortunately it isn't handlebar like some so it isn't as bad as it could be.

Everyone else seems to love it and says it makes him look distinguished and adds character.
