I'm rather dissappointed...

Bought a lovely Sabre bridle for showing in the sale at a large online retailer regularly mentioned on here, and have been waiting as patiently as possible since ordering. Well it finally arrived today, and there's a gouge (sp?) out of the leather on one of the cheekpieces, right where judges often look. We only show local level, but I did expect it to be in perfect condition!

However it states on the receipt that sale items are non-refundable, but would this count as it being faulty? Ideally I'd like an exchange, what do you think my chances are of getting one before I call them?

Call consumer direct, they are very helpful.

I think you'll need to notify them in writing within 7 working days that you want to return it, and then they'll have to refund, but I don't know how the 'sale' issue affects it.

I'm about to take another retailer to task over the fact that what they are doing is illegal under the distance selling regulations 2000, got my info from consumer direct.

Fihunt, I'm pretty sure that there is separate legislation governing on-line purchases and that you have a right of return within seven days for any reason - I'm sure someone else on here can confirm or correct this!

Just spoke to one of their sales reps on the phone who was very helpful. They don't have any in stock and won't til February (typical!) but they will exchange it and refund my postage, so after all that wait, it's going back in the post tomorrow!!!

Thank you everyone for your replies and advice!

Might seem obvious but...can you check it definitely fits her before you post it back too? There'd be nothing worse than waiting for it to arrive to find it's too big/small as would be my luck!

It should also say that 'your statutory rights are not affected'. Check the website for this. Basically, unless you were advised it was imperfect, you can still return it as faulty goods.

nothing more to add.
