What is everyone doing regarding muzzles for fat natives?

Misty still has her's on in the day, she is in small paddock at night with not great grazing but out in a bigger field during the day with better grazing. She has her muzzle on in the day and off at night.

Was wondering the best time to stop using it as poor little thing has worn it for so long now...

Mine have there's on in winter during the day when they are out on longer grass and on a bigger field.

In summer they ( three of them) are strip grazed on a paddock of half an acre, so never used them from April till November.

The grass is still growing, and has some nutrition, I sectioned off a piece of my paddock 5 days ago and its grown back already.

With our mild winters, grass grows all year round, so you still have to be careful.

Hi

I agree with jakesmydog - grass still growing so need to be careful, this is when most folk get caught out. My boy goes in a small paddock during the day - then out in big field with muzzle of a night.

If these winters keep up looks like muzzles will be used all year round at this rate

And just a reminder - Beware of the early morning frosts (now its getting cold) as thats another Laminitis nightmare waiting for us round the corner !!

Up here the grass is dying off so mine is turned out in a small paddock with her lami pal, no muzzles. In fact it's so cold up here they're now on low protein haylege twice a day as well!
