Muzzling in very long grass?

My Section D and mini are moving from very short grass to very long. I have bought both a muzzle. I'm a bit stuck as I certainly can't turn out unmuzzled but will the grass be too long?

I have had one muzzled on long grass and they work it out pretty quickly. She certainly hasn't starved!

My pony worked it out quickly.
He would use the muzzle pressed on the grass to 'wiggle the grass' up into the hole.

Just keep a close eye on things. Horses tend to trash more long grass than they actually eat, and then don't want to eat the trampled stuff.

My greedy sec C girl has a developed a technique where she kind of sucks it through the hole like spaghetti. Even muzzled she gain weight on long grass.

It won’t be to long, they do work it out.. my mare is a professional now might take a few days for them to get use to it.

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences. My D hasn't been muzzled before so am a little nervous. I've bought a Thin line Filly muzzle.

I used to have different muzzles for different grasses. One had a larger hole cut in it for this purpose. It still restricted, but enabled intake of longer grasses pressed flat by the muzzle when his head went down!
