My 14'1 pony is 14hh :(

2 inches won't make a big difference in the grand scheme of things!
Not sure what you want us to suggest - either sell and get a bigger horse or try and lose weight?

I know im so bloody gutted, I have lost 2 and a half stone since I got her as a 3 year old, I was just expecting her to be at least 14'2 she has no wither and she turned 4 at the beginning of Aug :(

I had a similar prob with my boy. He's Section A crossed with what we're guessing cob (old owner bought him from auction at 2wks with mother).
He's currently standing at 13.2/3hh at 4 and I don't think he's going to stretch anymore so I've got a lot of thinking to do (and running!).

Its awful isn't it...And to top it all I bought my 6 year old daughter a section A this weekend so I can either/ loose more weight/ keep Anneigh till my girl out grows the sec A but that will be at least 3 years/ sell her knowing I will be wanting a larger pony in the future for my girl/ or just be a horseless groom to a field ornament? There is no way i can have 3 horses it would kill my bank balance :( :( :(

My horse has defiantly grown a couple of inches since I bought him as a 5 yr old a couple of years ago!
Failing that - stable on compost and water regularly...?

My 7 year old grew 2 inches from 6 to 7 and his feet went up a size too. He's a tb. Also I just lost 2 stone on milk shakes for a month so I'd try to meet pony in the middle :)

Trust me, your pony has not stopped growing yet ! Shy is six, and in the last year he's developed withers, and has grown over an inch. I expect him to keep growing, although maybe not up, for another year yet.

My old boy was a 14hh Sec D. I'm 5'6 1/2" and about 12 stone. The only time his size was an issue was in showing classes when we kept being told he was too small but still got placed fairly well. We did everything else with no problems - except crossing a river once when it had been raining a lot and we nearly got swept down stream until we bumped into my friend's 15.2 who stopped us!

At 14hh with 9" of bone, he'll be plenty big enough for you especially if you lose some weight. What better incentive could you have!

My 5 yr old Sec D x Trad Cob is just under 14hh and at 5'7 I so wanted her to reach about 14.2hh. However she is a really chunky monkey and has no issue carrying me but I've been on a diet and managed to lose about 17lb so far so I know I'm not too heavy for her

I could understand your angst if it was 14.2 and you wanted a 14.3 ie. A little horse but you still have a pony, albeit an inch shorter than you desire. What's an inch between friends ;)

My old mare grew three inches between 3.5 and 6, to make a shade under 15.2. Like others, I'm sure your's will grow and with 9" bone should carry you OK.

I did the string test at 2 which gave me 15.2 which I thought was brilliant. However I'm having a hard time imagining her growing 6 inches in a couple of years :p

To be honest I would be perfectly happy with another 2 inches so I look better on her and not so tall although she does take my leg up well :D

This gives me so much hope, my boy I ended up taking on from my daughter is a 4 year old 13hh welsh b and I'm 5ft3 and work hard to keep my weight down at 8 stone for him, Im always desperatly hoping he will make at least 13.2hh so this is great to read :-)

2 inches doesn't make much difference (ahem well on a horse!). Also, my 13.1 has low withers, if she had high withers she would be more like 13.3, she is bodily still the same size. My friend has a pony which is about the same height but has high withers. He is much smaller than her despite nearly being the same height on paper.

People keep saying my 14.1 has grown but she hasn't, she has just matured and filled out so looks bigger. She is now 5.

At 4 about ten months ago:

I brought my 3/4TB 1/4 Sec D boy as a 3 year old, he was around 15hh at a push, he had no withers and as an august 24 born horse he was only just rising 3 when i brought him at the beginning of june. he's now 7 (well within the next five days) and stands at around 15.3, he's filled out loads more and looks very mature now. he's only just finished growing though as he was still only 15.1 at 5 years old. its amazing how much they can fill out and continue to grow past 4 years old. I certainly wouldnt be worried about his size OP, and if you have done well loosing so much weight already, carry on, you will not be too heavey but it might help with riding and where your legs come on him. best of luck, i certainly wouldnt be wanting to change horses at this early stage in his growing.

My warmblood was 5 nearly 6 when we got him, we measured him at 16hh. We measured him again when we had him a year and he was (and still is) 16.2hh. So dont frett too much. Does 2" really warrant stressing over if he's perfect in every other way? I dont want to sound harsh but as you've done so well already with your weight loss maybe you could lose a touch more if your that worried. :)

I've just looked back through your posts and found your pics that you put up on another thread. That pony is nowhere near done growing yet both in terms of up and outwards. Keep the faith and get yourself as fit as you can for when you start work with her. I reckon you're on track for 14.2 at least....

What does her back end measure at present?

don't worry about it =P even if she doesn't grow any more she should be able to take your weight and she defiantly wont have any trouble with your height I bought my trotter at 14.1hh and a 4 year old he is now 5 and nearly 15hh I still worry about being to heavy for him( I am 65kg :o) but he doesn't seem to mind ,judging from the bucks he though this morning:p

So there is light at the end of the tunnel, today I sat on her just to see how we are together and it didn't feel too bad apart from her wanting to bite my leg, think she didn't like my weight lol. Thank you all on your kind comments :)
