my huge muck heap which has grown and grown since we had our horse at home then increased to 3 has been removed by a friendly farmer and spread onto fields backing on to our garden.i am strangely so pleased as it was massive and a nightmare to get up.plan now to get it done every year.they havent asked for any money but feel i should offer something either financial or whiskey as i know some people pay a lot.what do you think.

We normally pay our local farmer around £40 to move our muckheap, but that's just a year's worth of muck!

A case or two of whisky perhaps...! ;-))

Tell them what they want for it, but as you ask them hand over the bottle of scotch. Up here in NE Scotland its a universal currency. By asking, and giving a bottle, they may well tell you its fine and the muck was good for their land, but it's nice to ask.

Congratulations!

How many trips did he have to do? I paid £60 a few years ago to my local farmer. He says he'll do it again this year, but he's only doing it as a favour really, so I think I'll have to pay more this time.

I think you'll be doing really well if you get away with the price of a bottle of whiskey. That would be a bargain.

phew lucky you! I pay my farmer about £30 to move my year old heap (although more recently I load it straight into a trailer and then take to the local allotments as the farmer isnt too keen on doing it!) so definitely worth a bottle of something or deisel money. A local muck heap removal company quoted me £200 recently - no way!!!

yes i intend to keep in his good books and hopefully do it every year.he had a little jcb digger took a couple of hours as all been dumped on the back field ready to be ploughed in.

I'm really lucky as we have allotments very close to the field they come along with their wheelbarrows and help themselves. I think now is the right time of year for digging it in because it's all vanished in the space on one week!

We used to have a guy want it for his allotment but the horses could produce it quicker than he could take it so now we pay a local farmer. We've just had it taken away and it was £100.
