I have put a thread previously regarding worrying about hacking when I moved my horse from livery to my field. Well........ I moved him the other week and luckily have found a neighbour to hack with. She is a jockey who has a training yard pretty much next door. She said she was more than happy to take her retired race horse out hacking with me. He is 19 years old now (the horse that is!!) and mine is 6. Our first hack was a short one of 45 mins, but yesterday we did a 10km hack, going on main roads, with bridges, then quieter roads past corn fields and cows, then past a beautiful river before heading a back down a grass track pretty much the whole route back where we could gallop. It was great fun and my horse behaved perfectly, especially as he had to lead! We just had one refusal over a tricky bridge so I got off and lead him. The gallop was brilliant the faster I have ever gone, being next to a jockey and all!!!!! Soooo pleased it all went well so just thought I would let you all know!!!
