Was such a proud mummy last Weds, my 4yo who is away at boarding school being backed/produced went to his first British Novice at Solihull last Weds.
He had never been to a competition before, loaded on the lorry and spent 1/2 hour watching in the collecting ring. The guy who is producing him for me then warmed him up. At one point there were 20 or so horses in the collecting ring. He was a start, walked trotted, cantered around like a true pro.
And then popped a few practice fences.
He then went into the main arena to a full up to height twisty/tight BN with music blaring out and lots to see. Anyway he was great, really bold and onward bound. A little too onward bound at times. But he was fab and no sign of hesitation. We came away with 16 jumping faults out of a course of 12 but a very very chilled happy horse/owner/rider.
Considering he was seriously ill with peritonitis in May and was so poorly, the fact he recovered, went to school and now out at a competition, means the world to me. And the fact that he was bred out of my lovely NH TB mare makes it all the more special.
Roll on next party outing.
