I dont know if it is because I am getting old, or because I spend too much time on this forum, but I am becoming very blunt and to the point.

Ordinarily I ignore stupid posts from people on here and on Facebook, but I am increasingly having to say something.

This morning I have seen a post from a girl wanting to know what to feed her Shetlands to keep them fat and another asking why her 17 month old has started to plant its feet when she free schools it or why it wont move forward when her OH leads her round the field sitting on said 17 month old.

I always try and find the positive in a situation and be nice, but I just cant do it any more! I was a little blunt with my YO yesterday on 2 separate occasions and at work I am becoming quite hard faced, to which I was complemented!

So is my age? Do I spend too long on here with people who are to the point? Have I reached the end of my tether? Who knows, but i#ll apologise in advance :D

No, you're just impatient. Try to practise some generosity of spirit, all people really want is kindness ... It's Christmas soon, season of goodwill and all that :)

There was another girl on fb this morning stating that she had been bucked off at a gallop and landed on her back...her back is still really sore...how long will it take to get better??! GO TO A F*?%!ING HOSPITAL!!

I AM SO HAPPY !!!!! I am not alone !! I really really thought it was just me who was turning into the b from hell !!! I was reduced to shaking with rage yesterday after listening to my neighbour ( aged 22...bit thick) telling me how she was going to buy a " big hunter" next year ( after paying for big wedding..) as they " they have pots of money!!".What does she do? Sits at home on her bum all day watching her 42 inch telly. Partner works prob about 20 hours a week...Good ole benefits !!And heres me,a lady of advancing years, who has worked every day since turning 15 and is currently considering selling a kidney to pay off the crippling vets bills I have had as the result of 12 months of extreme horsey bad luck and currently have nothing to ride because they are both bloody lame !!! She also informed me that laminitis was airborne.....A few years ago I would have smiled and said " How exciting for you" and " if you need any help let me know" but my mouth opened and I told her she was ridiculous and asked her if she was going to get a job to pay for this "big hunter".....Dont think I will be going to the wedding then......Glad I am not allone my fellow Grumpy Old Woman !!!!! Viva le menopause !!!

Oh it's definitely not just you. There are a frightening number of muppets on this forum - no wonder we have an equine crisis in this country...

What annoys me most is the "my horse is lame, my horse is x y z what could it be ?" threads I understand when vet been and diagnosed and people asking for others experiences but if vet as not been and youre worried call vet! Simple. Not trying to get a diagnose off a forum. Rant finished :)

Yes, such a post prompted me to respond to this question from OP "you say GET A VET , can you expand a bit........ "

Me too!! I think it's just more people are on facebook (particularly these open groups) and feel comfortable posting about the awful things they do. So we're more exposed to it, and therefore have less tolerance.

Dogatemysalad, that post made me absolutely despair!

Poor, poor little thing and poor mare! This sort if thing makes me wish that there were horse owning licenses with proper screening and an IQ test.

Its the forum not you.. Its worse on facebook

While horses are cheap and DIY livery cheaper than most riding lessons things aint gonna get any rosier...

It is actually frightening how little knowledge people have, but we all started somewhere but when I read yet another .....
........mum bought me a horse last week, it used to belong to Sheik H******** , it is much bigger than I am used to at the riding school, but I will grow in to it, it only knows how to go in straight lines, and seems to throw its head up and down, so I always keep a good hold on the reins to stop that.
She will only go up the road if I lead her, but as soon as we have bonded, we will be fine, the farrier says it has typical T.B. feet and so has suggested she gets a few weeks off or sees a vet, she seemed to be hopping on three legs yesterday ... its not bad enough to call a vet out as she manages to get out to to the field.
I know it seems a bit cold at night, but she will be getting a rug for her Christmas, I don't want to spoil the surprise.
What I really wanted to know is, are there any pink rugs with diamonte stars?

Nope, not your age - when you get even older, you will type a reply, walk off - return to screen & not post but sigh & hit the back button instead.
(then go back to read the multitude of replies lol)

And when you get even older, you will just read the 1st post, think 'how the hell did they ever get a horse' and return back to the search function.....
;)

TFF, have you been spying on me?

You are wrong...my friends and I call it the privilege of middle age. This is the complete absence of any desire to put up with complete idiots or people who really bring nothing to your particular party.

This is to not to say we go out of our way to be rude, just can no longer be bothered to try to make allowances for people who never change or listen and so don't bother with them.

However I will make exceptions when an animal (or another human being!) is being out at risk...

Here's a woman who knows how to give advice to the jaw-droppingly daft.

If you haven't come across Jessica Jahiel, she's worth a look. This is an example of her response to the owner of a 1 day old foal. How she kept her cool in her reply is pretty impressive.

Am trying hard to believe that this was a spoof letter :(

I'm taking the view currently that I've earned the right to be grumpy should I chose to be. And even if I chose not to be grumpy, but still exhibit ill humour, I claim exemption under the hormonally compromised clause :D
