So just went up to ride ponio and learn the stressage test

Picked out his hoof? Blood coming out of the frog.

Trotted him up, he is lame

Rang vet, they're coming at 7ish

I could cry. He is really chirpy, but I am not

There is a thin line of a cut on his frog, bit sore to touch nearer the heel but nothing overly drastic

I am having a stiff drink to hold myself together

And it's my fault - I put him out in the top field last night on his own, and the other 2 in the next field, and hes clearly gnoe up and down the fence (on some stones on one half) and cut his hoof. The irony is, I put him in that field so he didn't get pestered whilst eating his feed and run around !

ETS: kerellli i will go up now and do that, have washed it a couple of times and stuck on some wound powder.

He isn't that bad on it, and it looks like just a cut but arghh

Chances are its just a little sensitive and abit of purple spray he'll be fine though I can understand how your feeling!! Of course its not YOUR FAULT - its something called sods law - I hope his sensitive foot feels less owchy by 7pm and the vet wonders why youve called them out! perhaps give him alittle bit of what your having? xx

Hold yours horsey.............

wait until vet gets there..................... bloody makes things look alot worst that they are. As CF said clean it as best as poss for vet.

Fingers crossed for you and hug for gg, and let us know what vet says

haha he would love a bit of the pink bubbly I am having (I don't care if it's only 5pm, I am upset!)

I am hoping, fingers crossed, that it is just a cut, he was fine wondering around the stables before we found it. He is a tough little horse, has never EVER been lame before (bar when he had pulled a muscle lol)

calm down, jules---CALM
firstly its not your fault, its just sods law and horses for u! okay.
and secondly, just do everything possible for it,,even if it is miner, chances are, hopefully,,once hes got over his little cut, he'll be less sore and fine for aldon.
you have a day or two to get him right dont you?
when belv was lame up to champs, we just went OTT looking after his paw! lol

im sure zeb will be fine,,he better be or i wont get to meet him or you!!

Thanks, K, I am having a little panic here at, but hopefully the vet will reassure me, I have the whole of 2moro to get him right, he is such a dude I just don't want him to miss out on Aldon.

I am going to feel bad that it's my fault though, I should have just moved him after he had finished his feed or closed the middle gate so the others couldn't get to the bottom field

I am going to check on him now, and rewash it etc

give him some TLC from me and then tell him in a stern voice that he better stop being so pathetic!! bless
lol

and panic wont help zeb,,but it is a good excuse for some..erm...calming liquid

....hehe lol
anyway,,yes chill and you do have a whole day!!!

God what a disaster! Blooming horses.

Make sure the vet knows you are competing as there's certain antibiotics you can and can't use and he definitely can't have any anti-inflammatories or pain killers. I'd probably poultice it then if he's still a bit sore maybe try a pad under the shoe so that he doesn't hit it off another stone and go lame again (providing the vet doesn't think it's anything serious). Fingers crossed!

I am being really optimistic but everyone around me (not HHo people!) keep telling me it's not great...but I have my chin up! 10 mins til the vet, am off to poultice again (lol! 3rd time) and hope it is ok

I will keep him in overnight, and prob all of 2moro as it is a little muddy out in fields and he wil just get it infected, knowing my luck!

Will report back after vet has come, so please come back!

Emergency (((((((((((((((vibes)))))))))))))))) from me too!!!! also sobering up (((((((((((((vibes)))))))))))))) for all that early pink champagne!!!! xx

haha! I have another thread on his update - vet is optimistic but realistically are we going to be able to keep the cut clean enough to stop him being lame?!

Keep everything crossed!
