I am wondering if anyone knows anything about if a back protector is up to standard.

My back protector I got when I was 17, so that is 9 years ago. It has a a label on it that white with purple stitching and if i remember correctly, its say BETA 2000.

AFAIK it has the correct label in it, however all forms of "foam" degrade and whether you wish to trust yourself with a protector that may not be doing its job correctly is up to you.

It still seems pretty stirdy as it hasnt had much use in the past 9 years. But maybe I should take it into a shop and find out if it is still Ok. Dont want to fork out for one if mine is still usable.

The purple label is still a current standard, however the recommendations are to replace your body protector (not Kanteq's though) every 3-5 years. Mine is older than that, but has been well looked after and never fallen in so I'm happy enough to keep wearing it now, and for the level that I do :)

Thanks for that.

Mine is 9 years old and id say it probably hasnt been worn more that 10 times in its life, never fallen off the horse with it on either, im just wondering for a hunter pace that I might be doing, so not wanting to fork out at the moment as I might not enjoy going round a xc course lol.
