so i ordered a trial bag of micronized linseed for fox, and opened the box it came in and oh my god it smells AMAZING.

i swear this horse eats better than i do. fingers crossed this helps him put the weight back on :)

Well I "mentioned in passing" to hubs that I'd like to get order a bag, beefing up the positives, and he didn't react when I told him the cost, so as soon as I've used up the oil I have, I'm going to order some too.

We should ask Charnwood Milling if HHO's can have a special discount ?? Anyone dare ??

Doesn't anyone eat linseed themselves?

You usually find it sprinkled on arty breads, in cereals and cereal bars. I sprinkle some on my weetabix sometimes. Supposed to be good for digestion and hair and nails.

I get mine from Charnwood and have done for over a year. It's magic stuff...my youngster is so shiny with it. I'm sure when it comes time to back him, his tack will slip off! lol

You can use it to thicken stews in the slow cooker and add it to smoothies for extra omega oils.

It's not just for horses :D

Good idea! I so think HHO'ers should get a discount too as I for one had never heard of them until reading it on here! Every time someone mentions them its free advertising for them :-)

I ordered my first bag from Charnwood yesterday so hoping it arrives soon!!!!!!

Agree that I have only ordered it due to the posts on HHO which alll seem very positive about it's benefits.

OP: How long did it take from you ordering it to getting the bag???

I bought my first bag a couple of weeks ago, ordered it late on a thursday evening it was delivered monday morning, was quite surprised it was so quick, i too bought on recommendations on here.

I've just got my second bag today from charnwood after ordering on friday night.. really do rate them.. my boy is really shiny and soft so must be doing great on the inside too!

How much does everyone feed?

i think the recommended amount is a mug per feed Although my boy is becoming ridiculously picky and i can manage to sneak about 1/2 a mug in each feed- any more and he will just ignore it. Anyone else got a horse who will only eat it in small quantities?

I put in about half a mug. My boy doesn't need to gain weight though so its just for his coat and hooves. He's very shiny :-)

I put my boy on it a couple of weeks ago (also only because of what u read on here!) the difference in his coat is amazing! Really soft like silk.
I'm lucky that my feed merchants stock it, and I'm not far from Charnwood anyway!!

I ordered mine from them last week too! We fed oil last year, but I'm hoping the micronised is a better way of feeding it, and cheaper.

I take flax seed (linseed by another name) oil capsules every day for my skin, easier way for me to have it so I can still have rubbish food days and not worry about it too much.

Hmmphh since they won't consider delivering to NI and were exceptionally rude when I asked them about it, I wish you luck with that one!

I get mine from Feedmark which maybe more expensive but the p&p is free, it's next day delivery and they are lovely people to deal with.
