Absolutely heartbroken that yesterday evening, we had to have our 16yo beautiful friend Poppy put to sleep.

My friend came and sent her to heaven at home, and she died in our arms.

We could never have wished for a better dog. She sat with me through all the nights of feeding babies, hubby in hospital and was always thrilled to see me when I came home. We're all so terribly sad

i have a 15 yr old collie and am dreading that time coming but i am sure you have given her as much pleasure as she did you and 16yrs is a very good age for a dog,not much consolation ,sorry...
(((( hugs to you ))))

Aww I am so very sad for you. Your Poppy looks like she was a beautiful, gentle and lovely dog and I am sure you will miss her terribly. Keep her caressed deep within in your heart.

I have an old collie, also named Poppy, and I am absolutely dreading the day I am in your position.

So sorry for you and your family,
Tia x

I'm so sorry, hugs to you and your family.

You will never fill the void but with time it does get better. I found it hard to start with but happy memories keep you going mine was 15 years old. Poppy had a long happy life with you, just remember "Rainbow Bridge" when you feel low.

Take care xxxxx

I'd just like to thank everyone for their kind words.

It's a really difficult time for us all, and only made easier by the fact that she didn't suffer, and was so truly loved and adored by us all.

She was a gentle dog, with the most loyal, loving and patient ways.

Thanks again everyone xxxx

BIG HUGS. I lost my darling boy in November last year. Reading your post brings all my feelings back. They leave such a huge void in your life. You can see and feel them everywhere you look. All I can say is that the dreadful grief does get easier with time - although to be honest I personally found the only way to cope with the grief was to get another dog. Never, ever, a replacement.

RIP dear Poppy. What a lovely kind eye.

xx

I am so very sorry to hear you have lost Poppy. It leaves a hole in our lives which only takes time to heal. I feel for you and your family as it brings back my own losses over the years. Lots of hugs to you WH. RIP Poppy x
