Well we did it...we had our first competitive endurance ride yesterday and wow...what a fab day. Had to be in Sherwood Pines for 8.30 am, which is an hour away, so was up at 5 am! Had to brush and load and be off for 7.30 am, which meant a bit of brushing in the dark (no elec in stables)!!!
He was great for the vet check, apart from a bit of moving about while she was trying to take his pulse rate!
So we were off for 9.10 am and had a fantastic ride through the forest...he was well up for it and absolutely steamed round like he never has before!!! He was a different horse, so forward going!!!
We got a few leads off spritely arabs too , so had some wicked canters trying to duck and dive out of the way of low branches...god knows how people on big horses managed!!!
We steamed into the finish line as if he had done a 3 mile stroll and we were the fastest in for our class
So anyway, we finished 4th in the class
if only because his pulse was a little higher than I would have liked.
I am so chuffed with him...what a great year we have had and all from a horse who has been condemed by most round me and my EX instructor said to send him to market because 'you will never get anywhere with him'!!!!! What a superstar!
