Can't believe I missed the derby today! (Didn't even realise it was on

) but a huge well done to Andy!

Cazza and I trudged down to The College E C nice and early so I could do the 1m open with the lanky one. The day didn't start well, It was raining on and off, the lorry got stuck where it's been parked because the grass was so wet so it took us a while to get it shifted

and we arrived at the E C about 1/2 an hour late so I pegged it over to register (as I passed the arena I thought "sh1t that course looks big, can't be the 1m open") and they said I could put in a late entry (cue the sigh of relief from me) so when I went to fill in my forms I checked the class number I saw it was actually a 1.05m open (and for me the leap from 1m to 1.05m is HUGE!) and my face went from this -->

to this -->

when I was warming Olympic up over some fences he was making minimal effort so I kept telling Cazza to put them up (to what I thought was a 1.05m upright and a 1.05/1.10 ish spread) and he was pinging them brilliantly. When we were walking to the collecting ring C informed me that the upright was about 1.10/1.15 ish and the spread was 1.25.
I went into the ring shaking like a leaf but he was such a star

The first 4 fences were spot on, I held him a bit too much going into 5 (smallest fence on the course) and he just tipped the pole, I took a crap line into 6 and we got in a bit deep but he popped it perfectly and we got 7 spot on aswell (cue a big grin, lots of pats and "good boy"s from me

). I was so chuffed with him, he didn't try and bu**er off once, he only pulled once after 6 when I asked him for a change but he was fab

Piccies to follow when they're up online

Bloody hell Kat!!! You have so changed from the person who came and tried him out, you should be really really proud! Jumping 1.25 spreads

Wooweee well done! I like your reports, they sound like how my shows feel too LOL. Thank god someone was out competing this weekend, its nice to know how others got on. Umm...how do you not realise your jumping 1.25? (joking)

Fatarse - thank you

DD - When C told me how big it was I went ->

Like I said, I only thought it was 1.10m max! Lymp is such a good boy though, he well and truely earned his mini bag of haribo gummy bears and his mini bag of malteasers

Thank you

I'm fine when I jump in the warm up, the height doesn't bother me so I didn't really notice how big the spread was.......But I went into the ring and thought "argh, it's huge!"

Im the other way around, I hate the warm up with a passion but would hardly notice if the jumps in the ring went up a foot. I call it "tunnel vision", but really I think I shut my eyes..

Thank you

Riding all of these polo ponies has improved my riding no end and now I know what height to put the lanky one in at to make him behave......Let's hope it lasts

Well done

Sounds like a big improvement and now you're doing 1.05m's the 1m tracks will look tiny afterwards
wink.gif

Well done Kat. I still think the Discovery looks big.
crazy.gif

But the BN looks quite small now so I must be moving on a little bit. Roxy has won £98 so another placing and we will be onto the 1.05 with you. Does he jump better when they are bigger, Rox does, but I don`t.
grin.gif

Well done to you.

He went much better with the slightly bigger jumps, he only pulled once and was such a star the whole way round
grin.gif
But I still find that anything higher than a BN terrifying
crazy.gif
But the extra 5cm's makes me think that bit more about what I'm doing
