Last year I half clipped H early September and then fully clipped him about mid October, my reasoning has always been so that his coat grows back evenly. He has been half clipped Early Setember so am already thinking of doing full clip again and rugging up

Does anyone else do this or do you just stick to the same half clip and just let it grow out without taking the whole coat off?

Cheers Guys

clip it off, clip it ALL off. That's what rugs are for. Can't be done with brushing out all that hair in the spring!

(as long as they have a nice stable for night time & good rugs though)

By the way. the coat will grow back evenly, but i would still get it all off.

I clip the whole lot off as early as possible and tend to clip 3 times during winter. Clipped my boy on Tues, so he will probably get done again late Nov / Dec then once in Jan and that will be it.
Get rid of it!! Like Baileyhoss said, that's what rugs are for!!

But he got clipped about 2 weeks ago, gets turned away properly next week, but with rugs for a week or two until his coat comes through properly. Then gets a trace clip whilst fittening work is done, then full clip befor the eventing/competing starts again

I have clipped all off a few weeks ago, and will probably do a blanket clip for the next few clips and all off again in spring.

Unless i feel he will cope will hunter clip all through winter - i haven't decided 100% yet!

I full clipped last week so by the colder weather their coats will have grown a tad, then they'll have a blanket as one is out 24/7 and Feb whip it all off again so no furry beasties to deal with.

Mel is traced at the mo, as my clippers are really really poorly! She will be clipped out asap and stabled/rugged etc. Im allergic to horses (and hay/straw/etc etc) so anything that cuts down the sneezing and wheezing is a bonus!! lol! x
