4 weeks ago one of the other horses on my yard was being clipped. I thought it was a great opportunity to tie the green baby nearby so she could hear/see it and she was NOT happy :(

I knew I'd be needing to clip her at some point soon so had to get my thinking cap on...

So for the last 4 weeks I've been stealing my OHs head shavers out his bathroom drawer and encorporated 'pretend clipping' in to my daily grooming routine :)

It took 3 days for her to accept me standing near her with them on and I've gradually built it up to having them switched on and rubbed all over her. (have to wipe all the horse grease/scurf off with baby wipes each time so OH didn't notice!!) ;)

Well today she had a little chaser clip and not only did she stand PERFECTLY still, she was enjoying it do much she dozed off!

Head shavers now safely back in bathroom drawer, OH none the wiser ;)

I started with an electric toothbrush then small trimmers then hand held larger trippers then clippers! Took about 6 weeks but at the age of 15 and having owned my boy 8 years this is the first year we have not had to sedate or have any stress! Why I didnt do this years ago is beyond me and luckily my other one who is a yearling will already stand with trimmers going. Well done OP!
