. I am so so shocked with this as she has never ever attacked or even growled at any other dog in all the years we have had her and now she has a cut ear

.

Any ideas why any doggy people/trainers as to why all of a sudden she done this? The other dogs are so lovely (and normally she is too) and were not behaving in a threatening manner toward her at all! My heart nearly stopped - its like the equivalent to my nan bashing someone up!!!

were you making a fuss of the other dogs? I had a dalmation, lost her at 14 and a half and she was the same, lovely dog, was best friends with our neighbours Doberman and then one day my family and our neighbours had a bbq at theirs, very normal as it happened every weekend, but my dog would go over there to their house but theirs wouldn't come to ours as she liked to be in her own place. Everything good one minute then my dad gave the doberman a stroke which always was fine and my dal attacked her, ripped part of her ear off and then they had a full blown fight with my dal ending up with a huge hole in her neck and a costly trip to the vets. It never happened again and the doberman was able to accept fuss from my parents in my dogs presence and they were best friends for the rest of their days. We just put it down to an off day....... hope your girl mends, they are beautiful dogs and I miss mine terribly even 6 years on!!

No, not even fussing the others and they were simply just milling around the yard. Obviously, something between them was said, but as far as I could see it was just another normal yard afternoon. She was very shook up and managed to get the upper hand on the 1st fight, but picked on the Belguim Shepherd (which is like a black softy bear) for the 2nd dust up - and well, come off worse.

Do they go a little bit looopy as they get older do you think? I am quite concerned and I know dogs have fights all the time, but she never even gives of a growl, she is just so silly and lovely. I will have to keep an eye on things then.

14 1/2 - that is a fab age - go on get another one, my one even at her age, is still really goofy an silly and makes me LOL all the time xx

From your story, it's hard to tell if she was the aggressor or the victim. Either way, it's never truly cut and dried where dogs are concerned. Are the other dogs females or males? Are they fixed? Is she okay medically?

My friendly terrier snapped at another Boston Terrier's nose for no apparent reason the other week. She seemed very on edge and not herself, and it turned out that her anal sacs needed squeezing. The slightest thing really can alter their personality altogether.

Thanks for this. I do think I will get her checked over as this is totally out of character for her. As i said above, I know they can all have their moments, but this is so unusual, especially 2 within the space of 10 minutes!

In both instances she went for them first. 1st the bitch and then a dog, both have been 'done'. When she fought the bitch my dog got the better of her, but came off worse when she picked on the dog. Before hand there was no barging, barking ....anything to say, ah, that could be it.

I am just a bit bothered by it that's all. Thanks for the advice x
