He is being collected tomorrow.

I will get my purchase price back from Brightwells but will lose the money I paid for vetting, chiro and teeth.

Vendor has agreed to pay for a rug I bought and £50 for shoes

So althought another £230 plus travelling costs lost but at least the bulk of money safe

I did take advise from BHS legal team and was told I could take them to court for the money but it is not worth it

So I guess the way to look at it is that it is no more a loss than another failed vetting

Ho hum

Will miss the lad as he is sweet to handle, just not for me to ride.

If you don't mind me being nosey why have you had a change of heart about him? It seems from yor original post when you found out about his 'mistaken identity' that you weren't overly bothered?

Obviously you are quite within your right to send him back but I just wondered what had caused the change of heart x
 
Sad it has ended like this for you and cost you such alot of money but it is probably the sensible choice if not working out. What riding problems did you have? And do you know how he came to be sold as something he wasn't?
 
Soulfull- im sure its a hassle for you but could you please notify defra of your story too? The more they learn that the passport laws are a joke the better it will be for horses in the future. Your horse was obviously issued with a duplicate passport, which led to your problem.
 
Afraid it was the same old story............. give them a bit of grass, work and feed and they suddenly. Especially in his case was that I had his back put right and suddenly he felt a million dollars. Add this all up with recent xrays on my ankle which show it has not healed as well as it should have it was all pointing to disaster. Not too mention the fact she had said she would take £1200 but then went back on it and insisted on wanting £1900 for him.
Up to that point he had been great then had his back done and wahoo

Shame if it was 12 months down the line when I had been back riding for a while and my ankle had (hopefully) healed properly it would have been a different story

Although they are selling him on for me on my behalf. Lord knows how long that will take. Hope you find the right horse for you soon.

I am glad that it is all sorted for you. Hopefully you can move on and find the right horse. Thanks for letting us know, I was wondering what you were going to do.
