My dim question for the evening - leather girths

well, leather stud girths. Do they need any wearing in period before you could go out and jump or could you put a new one straight on and go out and jump 2 sj rounds? (Told you it was a dim question

I think it depends on the leather; if it was nice and supple you'd be fine, but if it was stiff it would probbably need cleaning/oiling first.
