So...I'm sitting here with a sprained wrist, a shattered pride and a new and improved determination........

Me and Molly went to a PC showjumping clinic with john adams last Wednesday.She was amazing walking along the roads to the school, but as soon as i sat on her, it was like i had detonated a bomb.She jogged in like she had been electrecuted.Even John said " God shes fresh " :) .She leapt about , bucking and trotting , freaking about when others came up behind her.She has a little thing of 1/2 rearing ,where she sorta jumps and lifts her front legs up - at speed as well. She KEPT running out,resulting in my falling off :L She tried to escape from the sandschool,nearly squiishing a few PC mums.All in all a good way to introduce ourselves.
BUUUTTT..
Funnily enough, it was just what I needed. I have renewed determination and I remembered that I am meant to be in conttrol. I am going to try her in a french link gag ( she is a strong cheeky 6 year old cob,getting fitter and testing her boundaries) ,I am going to up the traininng and I know I can't let her get away with anything. Everyone there was lovely, offering advice after and cheering us on when we did it :D
So,,,,sometimes things like that can be a blessing in disguise I guess....:D But any of youu horsey geniuses got any tips? :L
Ta luvlies xxx

Ohhh- you're in the same area as me! Different PC though.

Some ponies just don't cope with rallies particularly well. Our horse finds group lessons hugely confusing/ stressful and so we tend to avoid them. If I were you, next time you go to a rally arrive half an hour earlier than usual and find a space where you can school her your own way so she's listening to you. That way, at least you'll have her attention when you go into the rally...

Don't really have any advice but wanted to say that its nice to hear that you're using it in a constructive manner rather than let it knock your confidence :) well done!

Don't y'just love horses :cool::D

Well done you on deciding that you're going to make a go of it :D. Hope you have some good super glue and some nice Radox (plus a few good boxes of choccies :D).

Look forward to reading your progress reports :D

Mine gets like that at Riding Club rallies and shows. The best I can do is ride him through it! I give him plenty of calmer and cut down his feed on the days leading up to the show, make sure he has plenty of turnout etc. He is still nuts! He embarrasses me every time we go out and everyone knows what to expect from him now :/ I try and keep him thinking forwards all the time and not let him stop, I have to school him during 'rest' times at a rally otherwise he causes chaos. He gets into a right sweaty state. I am ready to give up on dressage as he goes brilliantly in the school then as soon as we're in for our test he goes crackers. We can manage jumping so long as we don;t spend too long in the warm up as that sends him into a bucking frenzy!!!!
So I feel your pain. Mine is 11 so he isn;t going to grow out of this behaviour soon!!! Oh well.
