My dog had a fit

This morning my 3 year old kelpie had a fit, a full blown fit out on a walk. It might be a second one, a few weeks ago he had an episode which we weren’t sure about but that wasn’t the case today. Anyone with any experiences ?

There can be lots of causes- Make sur eyou make an urgent vet appointment.

Get the vet appointment ASAP. If your dog has another fit in the interim, try to video it for your vet.

Unfortunately there does seem to be a problem with epilepsy in some kelpie lines. I would make an appointment with your vet asap.

I was planning on seeing if he has another one ? Obviously happy to see vet but for now I don’t see what he can do ? Dog is fine now, just been for another walk and he’s totally normal .

Our cavalier has fits. The advice from our Vet was to monitor them and no medication unless they became more frequent.

I would take him to the vets if it happens again with a seizure diary (for the vet to see how often it’s happening). If he has one again ideally time it and try to take a video. If it’s a full tonic clonic seizure, don’t be tempted to touch him/hold him still whilst he is seizing. Lots of reasons why they could be happening unfortunately
