i have had my dog since she was 5months shes now 9 months, shes a belgain shepherd/german shepherd cross i live on a farm so she gets a fair bit of exerscise. shes now 10months and had started chewing on everything!! only during the night. in the morning i find random things chewen on sometimes not completely destroyed and sometimes they are. i was wondering is this just a faze or is she not being statisfied with her energy? she also has a border collie 3yr old friend that she has living outside with her all the time

That's some cross! Basic exercise will not be enough for this type of dog, you will need to stimulate her brain through lots of training too.

Give her a stuffed, frozen Kong or a nice bone from the butcher as an alternative.

What would you suggest when Kongs/Bones don't work?
I've been watching this after my friends RR have decided to redecorate the sofa, they are not left for long periods of time, someone suggested putting something not nice on the hole to prevent it getting worse (worked up to chopped up chillies, which apparently they like !!!).
Walked in morning together, dog walker arrives about 12:30pm out for over an hour on a pack walk, walked again twice in the evening. Obedience training done, games have been bought, frozen kongs are dished out in morning (tried looking for the kong dispenser but can't get one anywhere!!!), loads of chew toys about for them, so any more suggestions that haven't been tried (next step is titanium furniture!!!!)

My GSD (2yr 4mnths) still chews so I have to keep her in her crate whilst I'm out. I would prefer it if she didn't have to go in her crate all the time, but I think we are both happier with it this way, as she is not faced with temptation during boredom so I come home to an unchewed home. Basically I would recommend getting a crate for your dog.

I found a 'Chuckie bone', which is hard plastic, with hollow ends stuffed with treats worked well, as the dog has to work hard at it, chewing and playing continually for a long time, for a treat to be dispensed. Quite a good distraction tool from chewing everything else! Failing that, crate training may be your only solution
