Im very sad as my greyhound has escaped and apears to have left home for good. We were out when his break for freedom took place hes not been handed in to the police, the local shops havent heard of one being found and hes no-where to be seen in the village. Im hoping some kind person has taken him in overnight realising hes not a stray as hes wearing a weatherbeeta landa dog coat and a nice racing collar, I hate the thought that he may be cold and scared.

Have u tried local vets...incase he has been injured

Thats what were hoping for tonight until i can phone around tomorrow. Tried police,no reports of him being handed in tried local kennels no-one there.
He has a tattoo in his ear but no chip. Fingers crossed hes ok.

A dog owner's worst nightmare. The not knowing must be awful. Hope that he is found and home safe and sound really soon.

I would try actually going to local kennels who take in strays. I have heard on more than one occasion of a dog being in kennels and yet owners told its not there when they phone. Also don't think the police are very good with lost dogs. Apart from contacting dog lost try your local radio station, and put loads of posters up locally. Hope you find him soon.

I lost my dog and found her days later at a dogs home 20 miles, away. I had reported her lost to the police and local dog warden but they have a policy of not informing the owner when a dog is found. I couldn't beleive that was what they did but I was told at the dog home that other councils do the same. Why ???? I think my dog was picked up by someone local , who phoned the dog warden who took her 20 miles away !!! do add insult to injury they then charged me £25 extra on top of the kenneling fees for their transport. So my advice would be to try all the dog homes even those outside your area. Goodluck, its horrible not knowing
