My dog scared the life out of me!!

I was just locking up the house for the night. Counted the dogs as I always do before bed. One missing!
No worries, he has several places he likes to sleep so I started going round the rooms. Couldn't find him.
So I go to the garden. Not there. Garage, Can't see him.
Back into the house I walked round every room. Looking under beds behind sofas. Opening rooms I haven't even been in.
I opened the front door, no sign.
Go to the car, even though he hasn't been in there today.
Back into the garden and through the little gate. No sign

I finally found him. At the back of the garage hidden behind some stuff. I was so frightened, I was thinking how could he have got out. Could he have been stolen (I would have heard the gate and he would have barked) trying to remember when I last saw him.

I've given him a hug and told him never to do that to me again!

Mine do that now and again, and it always makes me very suspicious cos as poodles are always near you, if they disappear and don't answer ti's usually cos they're up to something naughty!
