just wondered if any of your dogs do this?
my Jessie likes to nibble my arm , she starts from the shoulder and works her way down to my hand, every bit is nibbled and if you try to take it away she hooks it back and pins it down, i call it sweetcorning! i'm beginning to think i must stink something rotten as i assume she's giving me a good grooming, never had another dog do this.
do yours do weird things?

Erm, there's no way if let any of my dogs do this. What if she did it to a stranger or child? Most people would not take kindly to it. Really bad manners apart from anything else!

It sounds like grooming. It wouldn't bother me and I've two large German shepherds off working lines! But then they are also taught not to bite. They do also occasionally groom each other which I interpret as affectionate behaviour. It is flea control and social interaction. (Not that any of us have fleas, you understand! :)) I think you should probably feel complimented!

I occasionally get nibbled by mine when they are feeling especially affectionate. Quite sweet and not worrying in the slightest, rather flattering. They have never attempted to do it to casual acquaintances and I suspect it is reserved for members of their pack!

this is what i think, she's never done it to anybody else and is the most gentlest dog with everybody, especially kids

Mine doesn't do it to my arm, but now and again in greeting someone she knows and hasn't seen in a while she'll nibble their ear!

She was on a grooming table at a show, and the breeder came over to say hello. She must have recognised her and got very excited and jumped up to say hello and snuffled and gently grabbed Mel's ear. She does it to a friend of mine who owns the litter mate too. But she doesn't do that to other people - certainly not in the show ring or when greeting strangers.
