My spaniel just snores through storms

.....I can sympathise though - our old lab got wussier as she got older - I think it was really an excuse to climb on your lap for a cuddle!!

Have you got any Rescue Remedy? Put some on a biscuit to get it in them if you don't think you can get it down them!!

It seems to have stopped now -thank god, they are snoring again!

I will get some rescue remedy - for next time,

Also someone said it will work to help my horse concentrate at shows???

my dads dog his frigthened to that extreme he hides under the bed and hawls so know he gets some tablets from the vets that acts like a calmer he has to do this around bonfire night aswell the best thing to do is turn the music up and just act natural around your dog so thedont think anything is different!

My westie hides under the bed when he even senses a storm is coming and won't come out for love no money!

Try this.....

I have a border collie and 2 king Charles. One of the King Charles is scared of thunder, she seems to know its coming before it even arrives!!

When the thunder starts she tries to squeeze into the smallest gaps and hide, under the sofa, in the shower, under the bed... anywhere..

Anyway....

one day she was particularly scared and didn’t know what to do with herself, she even wet herself so..... we tried putting shooting ear defenders on her and it worked!!! she was sat happily in the middle of the room with big ear defenders on!!
(she could push them off it she wanted to!)

We have done this ever since!!

Its worth a try - it just sort of take the edge of the nerves so they concentrate more as they aren't so wound up. Try putting it on a piece of carrot or apple so he eats it - I put 2 dropperfuls on - and give them at least 2 doses 15 mins apart. Certainly won't do any harm and if it does help so much the better - I swear by it for all sorts of things for my horses, dogs and me!!

Ugh, I was woken up at 4am this morning by mum shoving Leah into my room (she's not usually allowed upstairs) saying "you sort your dog out, I've got work in the morning!". Cue a cowering, slobbering dog creeping around my bedroom refusing to settle down and keeping me awake.

Needless to say, it was because of the thunderstorm. Eventually, I decided she'd settle better on her own bed so I went downstairs with her and spent the rest of the night on the sofa.

Grrrrr! Who'd have dogs, eh?

positive reinforcement often helps with dogs with fears of thunderstorms.

Is there any particular treats (like cheese or chicken or liver or something?) that your dog particularly likes, but rarely gets?
If so, when a thunder storm is about to start, try playing with her, and when thunder starts, give them a piece of the treat and say GOOD GIRL (or boy..... obv) and repeat it for a few minutes. So dog associates thunder with the bestest treat in the whole wide world!

It works for most dogs ,but some are adamant that thunder is the devil coming ot get them!
