I've mentioned a few times over the past few months that my friend and I was involved in a near fatal RTA in July 2007. We were travelling back from Bell Equine having taken her horse for surgery to a splinter fracture in the knee that needed an arthroscopy to remove it. We thought it was going to be bad news, but left the hospital full of hope.

As we travelled up the M20 in a Land rover discovery, we were hit from behind with such an impact that all the glass went from the windows immediately and we were sent rolling.

Eventually after travelling a long distance we stopped, what was a landrover, now looked like a childs tent on the inside. My friend was seriously injured and eventually taken to london by helicopter.

My lovely dog Sally was also in the car with us, initially I thought she was trapped somewhere in the wreck. I thought that there was no way on gods earth she would have survived.

A lovely man came to our rescue and having made sure that my friend and I was ok went to look for Sally. After what seemed like hours, that was in fact just minutes, he jumped out of some bushes with my lovely girl. She had been thrown clear and albeit shaken, only had a few cuts on her paws.

My friend and I were taken off to hospital and the police took Sally to my mum's and she was checked out and found to be ok apart from shock.

I left hospital after a week and initially, she did not respond to me, almost as if she felt that I had left her, then all of a sudden she went mad and never left my side for a week. Our relationship is now so strong and truely bonded.

The whole incident made me look long and hard at life and never being a believer in Angels ect, my views have completely changed. I know for sure we all had someone holding our hands that day. I have since shown the phot of the accident to ambulance/police/fireman friends (Iwork in a&e) and we have been told we should not have survived!

My little dog is not worried about getting into my landrover and so happy to travel. I used to have a dog harness, but, I would never restrain a dog in a car again, I know for sure she would not have survived as there was nothing left of the back seats.......

Talk to your Angels, they are watching over us

The photo above was taken on the day her body sadly left me - her spirit remains very much alive and well through me.

Rest in peace my darling Poppy girl. 16/07/07 x

Such a touching story, so glad your girl is well.

Tia that picture brings a lump to my throat, you obviously loved that dog, and she you.

I have a guardian angel too and so do my dogs, my darling Baba-Lou dog!

I remember that photo when you first posted it Tia and it still chokes me now! I wish I did have a guardian angel........think mine must have got lost in the post

What a terrible accident it must have been so frightening. I feel that a good dog cage is the best and safest way for a dog to travel both for the dog and the passengers. I don't know how big Sally is but if she had been catapaulted into one of you, the outcome may not have been so lucky.

Keep that Guardian Angel happy!!
