So I rode Monty on my lesson on saturday. It was great fun, but certainly very... Different...

Let me tell you about Monty. I love him to bits, he's one of the few horses that I've really 'clicked' with. He's not your typical RS plod, at 15.2hh and six years old. He's a beautiful, affectionate thoroughbred cross, bright bay with three white socks and a star. He has a little, pony head and diamond shaped ears. He's also extremely dumb

Thing is, he bucks. He's usually pretty well-behaved, but yesterday he just got a little bit over excited. He was being playful at first, just prancing and showing off, but when it was our turn to canter, he leapt in the air and pulled off a GIANT buck (can't believe I stayed on

) and then about six small ones. Eventually, I got him back to a walk, and decided to do the same excercise (canter three 20m circles) but in trot, which was easier to control. Every time we passed the rest of the ponies, he'd go mental. Big, big, bucks, all four hoofs off the ground! I didn't even realise it was possible for them to do that in trot o_o After a bit, I worked out when he was going to buck (he drops his inside shoulder) and I could literally heave up his head and not let him.

So I was a bit shaken up... When the instructor (the best there is

) decided that we'd jump a double!

I was so nervous xD I really didn't want to, but I did it all the same, and Monty was wonderful! No more bucks, and I felt that I was improving my jumping towards the end. So that was my lesson

And guess what? I want to ride Monty again next week!
