Well I dont do Competitions - I do lorry driving, grooming & picnic providing for my daughter as a general rule!

Today I went to our local Riding Club show with the great Maloo. Now we havnt been out and about for a very long time due to said daughters competing and my studies so I was a tad rusty!! We started early Beth was an excellent groom - bathing Maloo and plaiting her up (shes much quicker and neater than me!)

We got to the show ground in plenty of time and I entered the Novice Working Hunter as it seemed pretty 'safe' and was in a quiet corner of the showground - nothing for Moo to get to excited about!

She warmed up OK - not helped by me being incredibly nervous and just sitting there like a dummy

(queue being given a verbal kick up the bum by B!). We ended up being the first to go in to jump as no one else was ready - Moo seemed to realise this was 'her moment to shine' and jumped a lovely clear round

- all I had to worry about was remembering the course! The only downside is that although Beth had the camera she got so excited about our round that she forgot to take any pictures (and the pro photographer also missed us!) so you will have to take my word for it that we were perfect

!!

All the competitors were called back in for the walk around and to my shock (and horror) I was called in at the top of the line (that wasnt supposed to happen I wanted to watch someone else do their show so I could copy!

) The judge was lovely and explained to us all what she wanted to see in our shows - so off we trundled and did our stuff - Moo thoroughly enjoyed herself and on the final walk around we were pulled in at the top of the line again

!! Our first rosette in a VERY long time and it was a red one !

This also meant that we had qualified for the championships - so after a bit of hanging around we dolled ourselves back up and went back in... Moo really wanted to switch off as it was soooo hot for her so had to really work hard to show her off to her best for the judge.... and to our surprise we were again called in first so now I have a lovely Champion rosette to go with the red one! The judge gave lots of feedback and told be that although the horse that stood reserve had better conformation Maloo won it on her jumping (if you could have seen how nervous I was jumping up to a week ago you too would be surprised to hear that!)
So all in all I love my ponio - she is the best! And it was also great to have role reversal where Beth was my groom for the day.

Picture from today (please be gently its at least 8 years since I was in a showring last!)

Thistle - go on you know you want to!!! It was actually quite good fun (if a little hot!!) and it was good to have a little bit of 'payback'!!!

My cobbyblob is now quite old and out on loan living the life of riley, I wouldn't have the heart to take her back.

However we move house soon to a place with fantastic hacking so either I lose 2 stone and ride the eventers or I get another cobby. I just need a kick up the bum to do it.

MG - not sure what next!! Maybe a few more lessons as will have to do Opens
