my first horse! i can't stop shaking!

Today I bought my first ever "own" horse, having shared for several years and ridden tonnes of friends horses on and off... its absolutely petrifying!!

COMPLETELY not what i went looking for (schoolmaster, min 7yrs, all rounder, not bay or grey) - he's a 15hh bay KWPN, 5yrs old (!!!) and an absolute delight. Had two v experienced horsey ppl with me (inc YO) who said he was one in a million and not to let him get away...! Although he's a baby (and i absolutely didn't want a youngster for my first) he's lovely and quiet, steady into jumps and pretty balanced. He came over from Holland on friday, after being snowed in to his stable for 2 weeks prior to that, we pulled him out of his stable on saturday, jumped him and he didn't put a foot wrong! then today i hacked him out (which we don't think he's done before, came straight off a showjumping yard in Holland with no hacking) and he was leading another 7 yr old past things. I'm in love!
Anyway, now prepare for a million numpty questions as I attempt to bring him on. Instructor has already been warned...eeeek!
i don't have any photos but will get some ASAP

ooooo and also, i need a name!! his current one is AB. so that's got to go! suggestions welcome!! his sire was Vancouver, so something Canadian maybe?

LOL sounds like me went to look for 15.2/16 hh 8-12 done a bit come back with a 17 hh 4yr old clydesdale x.Was best thing I ever did.Sadly no longer with me.
He sounds great!!
Hope you have heaps of fun with him
 
Well done...you will be fine! I went horse hunting many years ago for a steady, happy hacker and ended up with an almost feral Welsh D with a massive attitude and so green he could be mistaken for a sprout!!!
We had our up's and down's but he is still with me and much loved some 6 years on!

We had a top dressage riders horse come to our yard straight from Holland. The poor lad didn't move in his stable for 2 days because it had taken it out of him so much.

If it was me, I'd be arranging to go and ride him again before you part with any money. See how he is once he's recovered from travelling.

Mind you, are you riding him for the vetting, or will they be riding him? If you go to the vetting, I guess you'll see him once he has perked up.
 
yep I appreciate he might be a bit shell shocked at the mo! But for various reasons he's not actually arriving with me for three weeks, and he is literally on the yard next door (who will take him back if unsuitable), so have plenty of time to see if he changes.

mum is another one, we were looking for an older, dark coloured gelding
got 5 yo palomino mare...... who is still here 6 years later

Hmm, what's really Canadian? Google Vancouver and see what you come up with, not snow at the moment that's for sure, bit worrying as the Olympics start in a couple of weeks and Whistler is getting short on the white stuff I hear.

I am sure a name will just jump out at you the better you get to know him.
