Well, I finally did it! I went out on saturday with the Essex Hunt, and had a brilliant time, despite the weather, and getting dumped.

Dolly was very very strong, and have never felt her move so fast. I am not much of a jumper, and did make enquiries beforehand, but we went through one ditch, and all of a sudden she launched herself and I got left behind. Next ditch we came to, I tried to find a way around, (my friend stayed with me), and we were there for ages. Two people came back to look for us, helped us around, and we re-joined the pack. (Thankyou very much if you are reading this).

I thoroughly loved every minute of it, and am 100% sure that Dolly did. Other than being strong, she didn't put a hoof wrong. I will definitely go again next season, but want to work on my jumping this year, so am not left behind in more ways than one!

Only complaint! Worked very hard to get both Dolly and Myself spotless, and we were both covered in mud before my ungraceful landing!

sounds like you both enjoyed it! there's plenty of time to work on the jumping, and don't worry, even the best riders get left behind once in a while! (and Karen Dixon once told me that a horse will usually forgive you for being behind the movement, but rarely for being in front of it...:))
