I went to my first pleasure ride yesterday (Ulnes Walton Wander) and we did better than expected !
We have completed the 20kms ride in 2 hours 29 minutes (8.05 km/h on average).
A lot of stress in the morning as it was the first time taking him (and driving) in our trailer but it was worth it !
There was some good bits (very stony country lanes at some places , he is barefoot so was worried about it but he was happy trotting ).
He was very forward following other horses but we did have some napping too.
At the start we were on our own and there was not really any rider in front of us, some were coming back already (different starting time).
At two places he turned and started cantering to join the riders going the other way !
At that point we were behind time wise so I thought we would not make the required 8km/h minimum but half way there was other riders coming back from a longer route.
After that no problem he wanted to follow the faster ones..I was struggling to slow him down !
His heart rate was at 64 just at after the ride which I was told was really good and it was going down quickly.
My husband enjoyed being my groom for the day so that's good too!
Muscles are aching now and Badger is having a few days off. Our next one is in two weeks time
A nice sunny day but not too hot (for my hairy cob!)
