last night I took my boy to dressage training ON MY OWN! I had to go as it's my last session before the Regionals next weekend.

Now it may not seem like a big deal but although I've had Grumpy Boy a year and a half and been to loads of training and competitions, I've never gone on my own. I've always had my long suffering OH as groom/support or taken a friend and her horse with me.

Last night I went to another yard, 20 minutes away in the lorry for the training, and my OH had to work so I was stuck with going it alone as none of my friends were free either.

It was completely nerve wracking and the fact it was early evening, dark and peeing it down was maybe not the best circumstances for a first time but I MADE IT THERE AND BACK IN ONE PIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GB was a star and loaded like a dream at both ends and was tolerant of me faffing around, in the dark, in the rain putting on all his travelling gear on the way back then loading him into the lorry without the interior lights being on (I had forgotten where the switch was

. My OH normally deals with these things!)

I was so pleased with him and although I don't intend doing it regularly at least I now know I could cope on my own if necessary. Oh and the training went really well.

Roll on the Regionals!

Good for you!!! I rely on my OH to drive the box as it is HGV so I can never go alone (my excuse!!!)

and I applaud you for doing this !!!

I have to bribe him every now and then and ensure that I do not pee him off during the week when there is a show at the weekend!!

There are plenty of times I wish I could just get up and go by myself!!

Good luck for the Regionals... Gleneagles I presume???
