My 5 week old foal is bleaching out his colour. Is it the sun? he started off quite a reddish bay but seems more dun now. Also he has a darkening 5-o clock shadow like Homer Simpson! Should I worry or am I being a bit homerphobic? [image]http://

Im no expert when its coes to colour but i would say that as he has a black mane that its unlikely he will be chesnut, he may well go more of a dun colour.....

Thank you both for replying - I'm really happy with my boy but thought they tended to darken rather than lighten as they grow. Mind you he'll shed all this coat in a few months time so I'm told?

Totally normal, they start shedding their foal coat from now onwards and it starts round the eyes and nose, the baby coat does tend to get lighter in colour as they grow. Looks like he'll be bay or grey out - what colour are his mum and dad?

Good to know - thanks. Mum is bright bay and dad is skewbald with dark bay base colour.
Love the horses on your signature by the way...
