MY LOVLEY OLD FOURTRACK HAS DIED BIGTIME.BODY WORK HAS GONE NOT SAFE.LOCAL MECHANIC HAS RECOMMENDED ISUZU TROOPER 3.1 and there is a vauxhall monterey locally n reg with 65,000 on clock.i gather this is same spec as isuzu .does anyone know. recommendations please.i would love another fourtrack ,or discovery.needs to be just to tow with and reiable.budget about £2000.

I comiserate, loved all my Fourtraks. I replaced with Isuzu Rodeo pickup. Not quite as gutsy as Fourtrak, but a blooming good replacement

i've had a nissann terrano in the past and what a great horse 4x4 that was it was the 2.7tdi swb and pulled like a horse too....i had to keep checking trailer was still attched it was no work at all for engine to pull....these i totally recommend although I do like fourtracks!!

discos are good for towing but are mechanical disasters, the parts are expensive!
vauxhalls in general are very realiable!

also would second a terrano, very reasonable price wise too, you will prob get something a bit newer for your money if you went with one. Out of the isuzu and the vauxhall go with the isuzu...wouldn't touch the vauxhall with a bargepole!

Sorry to hear about your Fourtrak, brill brill towing cars. We changed our Fourtrak reluctantly to a Shogun Sport as our dog wouldnt fit in the Fourtrak but havent towed with it. Friend has one though and tows a IW510 no probs, says its great. Given the choice of a tow car on a budget though it would have to be another Fourtrak, I think you get a lot for your money. We sold our trusty Fourtrak on Ebay for £1800, it was an S reg in great nik but not sure what they are going for now.

I have a vauxhall monteray which is actually a badged Isuzu trooper, that I have owned for 10 years. She has 186.000 miles on the clock and is still going strong. Reliable, a good towing vehicle and go on forever. Mine is called Ruby and I love her lol

My full sympahies on the loss of your Fourtrack, lost mine this time last year to body work failure. loved every minute of driving it for the 3 yrs I owned it.

Not much help on advising on a replacement our other car is a Ford Ranger which tows really well if needed (but we usually use the lorry to trnsport neddies) so replaced mine with a Ford Maverick, good work horse 4x4 if needed but not a "proper" 4x4 in my opinion!

Good luck finding a replacement.

We had the Trooper 3L - was fab to tow with - quite literally amazing.

But had no end of issues with it.

Apparently the 3.1 is indestructable, then Isuzu made 3L and it was poo...... So I would vote massively for the Trooper 3.1!!!!!

I now have an L200 Warrior, nicer new and a bit flashier, but when it comes to needed a workhorse I sorely miss my Trooper!

Try to hang off for another fourtrak......... I'm on my third. bought it in April... It's a P reg in amazing condition and has only done 50,000 miles and I only paid £1250 for it............ there will be another one out there for you!!!

No they're not.... unless you buy from Land Rover themselves!

I commiserate too. Have had my Fourtrak 5yrs. Thought it was going to be a dead-un this year after it failed its MOT miserably, but friends and family rallied round, and it's back on the road!

Nissan Terrano or Landrover Disco. We have both, but our old Terrano (worth about £400) still does an excellent job, bit slow but plenty of Grunt.
