was lovely yesterday.
Hacking along, horse nice and jolly. Noticed some victoria plum trees laden down with fruit at the roadside (how have I not seen these before?) made mental note to go and buy some cheap brandy to make plum brandy for flask. Another 200 yds down the road saw a small bird of prey land on a rocky outcrop. Kept an eye on it to see what it was and when I got closer realised it was a Little Owl. Ahh lovely. Then another 50yds down the road saw a wonderful fit, glossy, healthy hare. Thought it was hiding from me but I spied it
Nearly home and saw a stubble field (we live in sort of uplands country so very rare), rang the farmer and asked him if I could have a canter round it. He said yes!!, so 3 times round we went, with mr chunky irish draught living his dream of being a racehorse (whenever his feet hit turf he wants to go go go!!!)
Got home with a smile on both our faces and a good feeling for the coming season.
Happy hunting everyone.
