After my post on Friday the vet thought her lamness was due to abscesses in her front and rear hoof unfortunatly she has laminitis in all 4 feet.

She has currantly got 3 pads on her frogs but we couldn't manage to get the 4th on as she couldn't stand on 3 feet any longer. It was so painful to watch her struggling like that.

The farrier should be out tomorrow to take off the remining 2 shoes trim her toes back and pad her feet properly.

Hopefully things will go well and in 10 days time she should be have X-Rays so fingers crossed nothing major has moved *crosses finger, toes and anything else that will cross*

Please any spare hugs and positive vibes going they would be most welcomed I know there is alot going on with everyone else at the mo but if not for me for my Cassie

Oh no.

That's what my pony got too....very harrowing to deal with, I hope you have tonnes of strength there as your pony may need it. Sending you my very best wishes.

Does your vet know what caused the laminitis?

He thinks it is just the grass, with the rain and then the sun its just like spring grass again plus its a new field for them although they have been on it before it was rested for the winter and spring.

Cas and Sam were stripped grazed so they didn't just go on a brand new field so they could pig out I thought I was being very careful I guesss not!!

The vet and farrier are talking about imprint shoes for her and if all goes well keep them on for as long as possible.

I saw your post about Lugs just wasn't in the right frame of mind to reply.Sorry to hear about your foal too it is heart breaking.
Thank you for your vibes and I hope Lugs makes it too.
Plus are you OK from accident

Quick reply
Thank you all so much for your postive vibes she is slightly more comfortable this morning but it could be all the drugs she is on..
The pulse is still strong in the front 2 but not as strong in the back 2 so I guess thats a postive step forward.
She is so good and bright, she just keeps looking out for the next haynet expecting them on tap this resticted in take is not what she signed up for lol!

From one "Cassie" to another, lots of hugs and love and positive vibes... and to you too. You must be distraught.

big hugs- my mare has EXACTLY the same- vet thought abscess ect but tunred out as acute in all four feet.
She had frog supports on and shoes off and the improvement was immediate- she was still lame but not that crippling lame that makes you unsure if your doing the right thing.

She has been on box rest ( well she has walked the yard and been shut in a night)
And after 2 months she is 100% sound and starting to work again- she has egg bar shoes on in front to support the frog- and she is good now.So I send you big hugs its awful but you can get through it .
Good luck! x

Thank you for your well wishes.
I am so glad your mare has come through it well,I guess it is just the start to a long road to recovery.
The weird thing is Cassie has never shown any signs of laminitis before always lived out pretty much 24/7 for most of her life it must be just one of those things

Good luck vibes being sent your way.

I know exactly what you're going through. My boy has lami - his was a side effect from his colic - in his front feet. This is his fifth week out of 6 weeks box rest. Have to cold hose all 4 feet twice a day every day. He's also got the frog putty supports on. Though he is sound, feet are cold and no pulse now.

Lami is awful

nothing is too much so she wont be in pain they just don't last very long only 4 weeks. I hope they are covered by insurance.
