I have had an awful year. Had to move to another area of the country following threats from someone, and as I had to move in a bit of a rush, I didn't have time to find grazing for my ponies. I gifted them to a friend, who adored them when I had them, and who has given them a very happy home.

As a result of the stress and upheaval, my mental health issues returned with a vengeance, and then some. I tried to be horseless for a few months, but struggled without my horsey fix. As I am not overly bothered about riding any more I decided to find a horse who needed me as much as I needed it. I went to WHW and found Big Red, a 16.3 five year old who can't be ridden as she has low grade wobblers. It was love at first sight for me, and I brought her home to a new friends a few weeks later. Unfortunately new friends horse is rather anti social and when we put the horses together there was quite a lot of fighting going on, so we had to separate them :(

Then I came across a good sized pocket of land to rent a similar distance away as friends house (less than 10 mins away), but it had the added bonus of a large barn. I signed the lease last week. Obviously Big Red needed a companion as we were moving to our own land, and I again contacted WHW. Since getting Big Red I hadn't been able to get her best buddy at WHW out of my mind, so asked if it would be possible for Little Red to come and join us. The answer was a resounding 'yes', and today Little Red was collected from WHW and Big Red picked up en-route, and both deposited at new land.

I was hoping for a reunion that would move me to tears, lots of whinnying, nose touching and grooming, but the pair of them just unloaded, got lead to the field and then started to eat! I guess it was quite nice that they did remember each other and just carried on where they left off, but I was hoping for something more!

Big Red is just amazing. She is funny, affectionate and friendly. People think she is a gelding as she is so lovely, she has never put her ears back or pulled faces, and she is exactly the same even when in season. Little Red is a bit more complex. She is only two years old but has had a horrible past. She is timid and wary, and is the stereotypical chestnut mare - quite the opposite of Big Red :D

If anyone is looking for a horse or pony please do consider WHW. They have youngsters who can be broken in future, companions of all sizes, and also ridden horses and ponies. The loan procedure is quick and easy, and everyone is so friendly :)

Here is a pic of my ginger girlies today:
