It doesn't matter to her - as long as you love her that is enough! I feel the same way about FB. He has some scarring on his legs from his accident but I still think he's the best looking horse compared to the others I know!

agree, more piccies please!
You love her jordan thats all that matters, who cares if she will never make it big in the show ring?! You can still take her to local shows and have fun doing the novelty type classes...mare with the prettiest head....best tail etc etc.

I dont quite know how to reply to you as i was pretty hard on you when you originally posted about her

. I had no right to attack you without knowing you, your circumstances or the mare. I apologise.
Does it really matter if she will never win a showing class? What is more imporrtant is that you find mutual enjoyment/comfort/company and respect. Enjoy her for herself

aw hun, don't see why you shouldn't go in some rc classes? maybe ex-race horse classes?

just have fun hun. i paid a fortune for a four year old to bsja - a week after getting her she went down in the field. long story short, she'll probably never jump bsja, but it don't matter, we'll amble along and she'll flap her pretty mane at all she sees and be happy

.

you and your mare have inspired a level of interest and sheer human warmth the like of which is rarely seen. thank you for all you have shared and just continue to enjoy your girl.

Does she have scars? I show my welshie in hand and she has several scars from her time on the mountains but it doesn't seem to be a problem

She has one of the loveliest heads I have seen, and her eyes are big and genuine. Her coat shines like the sun and she really is a lady. I think it's a shame it saddens you some other someone, who has no idea of her inner beauty might not rate her so highly, based on the scars she bears from a past and less than easy life.

You love her, I think she's a smasher and now she's yours, she doesn't really need anyone else to tell her she's beautiful.

(I hate the whole showing thing anyhoos

Isn't it a mark of her worth that she has scars and still looks so lovely?

All horses get nicks and cuts at some stage in their life, just like humans. When you look at Daphi and care and love her, you don't notice the scars just a very beautiful and well cared for horse!

Love her for what she is....and it's not the end of the world if you can't show her. There's lots of other things to do.

Just because....

The battered brigade

The mark of a stake in the shoulder,
The brand of a wall on the knee,
Are scars to the careless beholder
And blemishes. So it may be ;
But every such blemish endorses
The pluck of a steed unafraid,
And the heart of a lover of horses
Goes out to the Battered Brigade.

Their knocks have been gathered in duty,
Their scars in the front of the fray;
It isn't your cleanest-legged beauty
That's first at the end of the day.
When five foot of timber before us
Has half of the pretty ones stayed,
If you want to catch up to the chorus
Come on with the Battered Brigade

Of course you can still show her!

You may come last in every class but you can still go out there and enjoy the experience

Used to have a horse that knocked every jump down but he loved going out, so we always went, got laughed at and came home, he was always so happy out, who cares we didnt come anywhere

I'd rather have a horse that I loved & who loved me back than a showring superstar. It sounds as if you think the world of Daphi & that, to me, is what having horses is all about. By all means go out & show her, you may even be surprised at the results you get, but never lose sight of the fact that to you she's the best horse in the world. She's one lucky mare.

Scars will not prevent you from showing her at local level..... or higher if she excels in another way

I think you should go and have fun and worry about the shows next year when you have both formed a good bond

Work on your partnership for a bit then have a go at some dressage! Its loads more fun than showing, you'd still get to turn Daphi out beautifully and show her off, and it would help with her training.
